Our FAQ's
What should I expect from a consultation? During the consultation, we’ll chat about where you are right now and where you’d like to go, focusing on any challenges you’re facing. We’ll explain how our tuition works, walk you through the membership details, and make sure you have plenty of time to ask any questions. It’s really helpful for us to have the potential student at the meeting so we can better understand their needs and goals. No obligation to sign up, you can take away an availability sheet to think about it. Book a consultation here
What do I need to bring to the session? Just yourself! We’ve got everything you need here, including stationery, books and equipment. If needed, we also have tablets, overlays, and can print on different types of paper. Some students prefer to bring their own books or stationery, that’s totally fine too!
How are the sessions run? Each session runs for 55 minutes. There are up to 4 students in the session, with one subject speciality tutor there to help. Different tutors run their sessions a little differently, but overall you should expect to start with a conversation about your current progress. Your tutor will then guide you through an agreed-upon topic, checking in on your progress along the way and answering any questions you have at any time. You'll also receive helpful feedback to keep you on track.
Can you set my child homework? No, our tuition is designed to complement their existing schooling. While we don’t assign homework, your child is welcome to complete work at home and bring it in for feedback during their allocated session time.
How can I discuss my child's progress? There are a couple of ways to get in touch with us about your child's progress. You won’t be able to speak directly with their tutor, but we can provide a progress report via email upon request. Please email reception@thelearning-studio.co.uk for this. Alternatively, you can book a 15-minute meeting with a member of the management team through the members page to discuss in person.
Are you open in the half terms and bank holidays? Yes! We ONLY close for Good Friday and Easter Monday, and over the Christmas and Summer break. Please see our Members Area for specific dates and more information.
Will my membership ever expire? Your membership rolls over automatically until cancelled. We require three weeks' notice for cancellations, so if you have your GCSE coming up, please make sure to give us enough time to avoid any charges.
I'm going on holiday. Should I let you know? Yes, please make sure to fill out the holiday form in the Members area to notify us. Please don’t inform your tutor directly, as the holiday form is the required method. If we don’t receive notice, a charge may apply. We prefer at least one week’s notice, but if it's less than that, there may be a small £10 fee. Thank you for your understanding!
What if my child cannot make a session? If you're unable to attend a session, please give at least 24 hours' notice to the reception team by emailing reception@thelearning-studio.co.uk, or you will forfeit that session. If we receive the proper notice, we’ll do our best to rearrange the session to a more convenient time for you. Please note that refunds are not given.
What happens if a tutor is ill or cannot make the session? If a tutor is ill or unable to attend a session, we will do our best to arrange another tutor to cover the slot. All of our tutors are subject specialists and highly skilled, so you can rest assured they know what they’re doing. If we’re unable to find cover, we’ll send a text to the number you provided when you joined, and credits will be applied to your account.
